Held yesterday, April 23, 2024, at the presence of President Renato Brunetta and Vice-President Luigi Brugnaro, Mayor of Venice, the meeting of the steering council of the Venice Sustainability Foundation (VSF) in which the 2023 operating budget was unanimously approved.
During the meeting, President Brunetta and Director General Alessandro Costa briefed the Board on project activities with particular focus on Venice City Campus, Hydrogen, Energy Transition and Sustainable Tourism.
The steering council also informed those present of the prospect of the entry of new partners to complement the broad partnership that already makes up the Foundation today.
Also with a view to future commitments, space was left for the exposition of ongoing cross-cutting projects: the development of an Urban Sustainability Target-Scenario, the first applications of the Sustainable Finance Operational Protocol that the Foundation makes available.
Exhibition-seminar initiatives that VSF is working on were also outlined. In particular, the “Waterproof Venice” exhibition that will kick off on May 30, within the framework of the Salone nautico 2024, and the Venice Hydrogen Forum to be held in Venice on October 18-19. The former plans to illustrate, to a wide audience, the members’ projects in the direction of a development, sustainable and integrated, of the Venetian territory. The inauguration of the exhibition will be accompanied by a conference in which the most relevant innovative strategies and projects aimed at the economic and social revitalization of Venice in the areas of transport infrastructure, energy and services useful for urban regeneration and modernization will be recounted.
The Venice Hydrogen Forum in the fall will be an international, ministerial event for business executives, focusing on strategies for transporting, storing and trading the hydrogen carrier and its derivatives across the Mediterranean.
Lastly, a series of project and seminar collaboration agreements that the Foundation is pursuing with entities of international stature were reviewed.
