The side event of the Biennale della Sostenibilità 2023 – The MOSE Era “L’orizzonte degli eventi” was inaugurated today, 29 August. At “Le stanze della Fotografia” on the island of San Giorgio, a space managed by the Giorgio Cini Foundation and Marsilio, an exhibition by the photographer Paolo Pellegrin opened, which will run until 7 January 2024. More than three hundred shots retrace the photographer’s work in a narrative thread that starts in 1995 and ends in 2023.
“We want to make photography a moment of reflection and sharing, bringing here people who know how to read photos,” opened Cini Foundation Secretary General Renata Codello in dialogue with curator Dennis Curti.
Then, Marsilio Arte president Emanuela Bassetti emphasised that there is “an explosion of the Venice of culture”, before leaving the floor to the photographer. Pellegrin remarked: “It is a combination of photos, also unpublished ones, to show that my work has an important value here in Venice, given that the city has obvious conflicts with the climate”.
For Venice Sustainability Foundation (VSF), Tania Schiavon, head of communications, was present: ‘We welcomed the event as part of the Biennale della Sostenibilità programme, because we want to develop themes of integrated social, cultural and economic development for the city”.
