Today the side event of the Biennale della Sostenibilità 2023 – The MOSE Era, entitled “Traveling with the Bank of Italy – Venice“, took place. An event organized by the bank at the Goldoni Theatre in which green transition and real estate were discussed, topics that are closed to the Venice Sustainability Foundation (VSF).
In the afternoon, discussions focused on how transition policies can affect real estate prices, household wealth and also reflect on the stability of the banking system, which is exposed to this kind of activity through land credit.
The main difficulties for Venice, arising from the debate, relate to the coexistence of energy efficiency of housing, with landscape protection and the constraint regime imposed on buildings.
During the meeting, it was discussed the impact of MOSE on the preservation of the city. Research by the Bank of Italy showed that housing stock got an appreciation in a percentage between 4 and 13 percent, with the greatest increase in value concerning the lowest floors.
