VSF took part in the seminar “Water crisis: strategies for effective water management in the tourism sector,” held on April 1 at Auditorium M. Grimani in Mestre. The event was sponsored by the Venice Rovigo Chamber of Commerce and Veritas, with the aim of raising awareness among citizens and business operators on the conscious use of water resources, in a context of increasing environmental pressure.
During the seminar, Damiano De Marchi illustrated the Foundation’s activities, with a focus on current projects and prospects for building an integrated model of sustainable development for the metropolitan and Venetian territory.
In his speech, he highlighted how the sustainable management of tourism requires greater awareness of the territorial impacts of the phenomenon, including the consumption of drinking water and the production of urban waste-two particularly relevant aspects in high-intensity tourist destinations.
During the afternoon, Emanuela Fattorel, Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce, and Andrea Razzini, General Manager of Veritas, also spoke. Simone Grandin, Director of the Integrated Water Service of Veritas, presented a reflection on “The Veneto Coastline and Sustainable Tourism: water supply strategies”. Next, Giulio Conte, Nicola Martinuzzi, and Riccardo Cilia of Iridra discussed the Veneto Region’s Water Saving Guide and proposed innovative solutions. Before De Marchi’s closing remarks, Federico Rosset of the Veneto Region elaborated on funding opportunities for water-saving interventions under Interreg Programs.
