This morning, Europa Nostra’s European Cultural Heritage Summit 2023 focused on the issues of conservation and enhancement of Europe’s cultural heritage. In the Saint Marks’ Procuratie Vecchie, venue of The human safety net, the side event of the Biennale della Sostenibilità 2023 – The MOSE Era, organized by the Venice Sustainability Foundation (FVCMS/VSF), hosted Europa Nostra partners in an open discussion on the European project aimed at the environmental, digital and social transformation of society. In particular, the discussion focused on the role that culture and heritage can play in achieving the goals of keeping global temperature rise below 1.5 C°.
The proceedings were opened by greetings from Sneska Quaedvlieg-Mihailović, secretary-general of Europa Nostra, Emma Ursich, secretary-general of The Human Safety Net, Catherine Magnant, head of the Cultural Policies Department of the European Commission, and Massimiliano De Martin, councillor for the Environment of the City of Venice.
