This afternoon, Alessandro Costa, Director General of the Venice Sustainability Foundation (VSF), spoke at the event “Space to Non-Space,” hosted at Infinite Area in Montebelluna.
This was the second event in a series of three meetings organized by the Veneto Region, in collaboration with the Veneto Digital Agenda and the European Space Agency (ESA). The aim is to promote the application of space technologies in industrial sectors not traditionally related to space. This series of events anticipates the third edition of “Space Meetings Veneto 2025,” which will be held in Venice May 20-22, 2025, offering an international stage for the best business proposals and innovations.
Today’s meeting was dedicated to the theme “Food and Wellness: from Space to Sport and Back,” with talks focused on the application of space technologies in the sports sector, particularly in the area of food and wellness. Funding opportunities and tools made available by ESA to support companies engaged in innovation pathways were also presented.
In his speech, Costa outlined VSF’s vision for an integrated model of sustainable development in Venice and the metropolitan area.He then presented the report produced in collaboration with Boston Consulting Group, which analyzes the potential of the space economy in the Veneto region.The study shows how this sector could generate an economic spin-off of 4.5 billion euros in the region by 2040, creating about 2,400 highly skilled jobs.
