The Venice Sustainability Foundation (VSF) participated in a closed meeting of the “European Climate Foundation” for the purpose of representing initiatives on sustainability and digital transition in the city of Venice.
The discussion, which was held at the Querini Stampalia, was attended by a group of experts from different European countries who debated ways and approaches related to communication and awareness on climate change issues.
Alessandro De Sanctis, a member of VSF’s “Urban Sustainability Scenario-Objective” working team, spoke bringing the vision of the Foundation in a talk titled “Climatechange and mass tourism in Venice: adaptation and mitigation solutions,” in which some examples of adaptation and mitigation to climate change and mass tourism in the city of Venice were summarized.
Specifically, De Sanctis emphasized the role of Mose as an enabling factor for the city’s sustainable vilupposable, then focused on the potential of digital and smart city management platforms to support the balanced and sustainable growth of the area. At the same time, the role of the Foundation’s Sustainability Observatory, which aims to define methodologies for measuring sustainability and monitoring its status in the city of Venice, was outlined.
