Venice City Campus, an article on the knowledge cluster

Published 4 February 2025
News

The scientific article ““Venezia Città Campus. Progettare il cluster della conoscenza (Venice City Campus. Designing the knowledge cluster)”, by Alessandro Costa (VSF general manager) and Jacopo Galli (VSF project manager).

The publication is part of the volume “L’università pubblica italiana per città e territori. Politiche, casi e pratiche (The Italian Public University for Cities and Territories. Policies, cases and practices)” (Working Papers – Urban@it, vol. 18, 2024), a collection of contributions analyzing the strategic role of academic institutions in the country’s urban and territorial transformation.

The paper develops a reflection on the future of Venice as a “city of knowledge,” delving into the potential of a university and research ecosystem fully integrated into the urban context.

The concept of Venice City Campus represents an innovative strategy to promote the development of a knowledge economy capable of expressing synergies between education, innovation and sustainable development, contributing to urban regeneration and the ability to attract talent and investment. At a time when university cities are faced with the challenges of sustainability and inclusion, the case of Venice stands out as a possible laboratory that can provide globally useful insights.
