Once again this year, the Venice Sustainability Foundation (VSF) is institutional partner of the Salone nautico 2024 (Venice Boat Show). The event, organized by the Municipality of Venice and Vela SpA, will be held between May 29 and June 2, 2024 and will be hosted at the Venice Arsenal.
Development of the application of the hydrogen carrier, “green” engines, and sailing solutions will be part of the proposals of the Salone nautico, which will also see a space dedicated to foils and boats with reduced environmental impact.
The exhibition will offer pure proposals on renewable energy, decarbonization of transport, energy efficiency, circularity and protection of the lagoon environment. A natural union, this, with VSF, which within its sphere of activity also promotes Energy Transition, in its different declinations, in order to create an integrated model of sustainable development for the future of the Venetian territory.
The Foundation will be present at the Salone with two mutually complementary initiatives:
- the conference “From protection to innovation: investments in infrastructure and sustainable revitalization plans for Venice in the MOSE era” (May 30 – 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Sala degli Squadratori),
- the opening of the exhibition “Waterproof Venice” (Tesa 66 at the Arsenal, 12:30 p.m., from May 30 to October 6).
The conference will showcase the most relevant innovative strategies and projects aimed at the economic and social revitalization of Venice in the areas of transportation infrastructure, energy and services useful for urban regeneration, integrated by adopting a holistic approach to ensure Venice’s resilience and progress over time. The meeting will feature direct testimony from companies, universities and institutions involved in the projects.
The exhibition takes the form of an original conceptual installation that explores, interprets and represents, with the help of Artificial Intelligence algorithms, the initiatives, aspirations, knowledge, skills, in a word the ‘projects’, that some of the Members of the Venice Sustainability Foundation (VSF) are producing and will produce for the city and by the city, thanks to the prospects guaranteed by a future that is finally ‘water-proof’.
With a view aimed at drawing a reasoned mosaic, contributions to form the images displayed in Waterproof Venice were drawn from initiatives proposed by the following partners: Veneto Region, City of Venice, Ca’ Foscari University, Iuav University of Venice, Venice Academy of Fine Arts, Benedetto Marcello Venice Conservatory of Music, Generali – The Human Safety Net, Confindustria Veneto – Hydrogen Park, Eni, Almaviva, Amazon Web Services, North Adriatic Sea Port Authority, Autostrade per l’Italia Group, Concessioni Autostradali Venete, Edison, Enfinity Global, Fincantieri, Green Propulsion Laboratory by Veritas, SAVE Group, Infinityhub, Sanlorenzo, Umana, Veritas.
