The Fondazione Diabete Ricerca Onlus joins as a new co-founding member of the Venice Sustainability Foundation (VSF). The entry, approved by the VSF Governing Board last December 16, marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration to promote innovative approaches to the link between environment, health and prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases (MCNTs).
In this context, the Fondazione Diabete Ricerca Onlus will develop study and implementation initiatives using Venice as a research context. Among the entity’s main activities is the “Environment, Health and Prevention of Chronic Diseases” project, dedicated to collecting and analyzing data using wearable devices and environmental sensors to study how factors such as pollution, urbanization and housing affect health. The results will enable the development of advanced solutions based on artificial intelligence and telemedicine, with a focus on prevention, sustainability and community well-being.
The project will explore the interconnection between the urban environment and health, focusing on sustainable urban and housing design. Venice, with its unique environmental complexity, will be the ideal laboratory to study how factors such as walkability, transportation, air quality and housing density influence public health.
