Four years after the pandemic that changed the world in 2020, a team of artists and scientists, with the support of CORILA (Consortium for the Coordination of Research Related to the Venice Lagoon System), is proposing the exhibition “Re-Emerging”. Venice Sustainability Foundation (VSF) patronizes the event that will take place from March 1 to March 15, 2024 at the Procuratie Vecchie di San Marco, space in which photographs by Gaby Wagner, Sophie Fauchier and Val Masferrer Oliveira will offer food for thought and renewal about the city. The shots, taken during the lockdown, evoke feelings that take the city back to its origins, when the lagoon was the undeniable protagonist along with the human element.<\/p>\n

However, this is not just a photo exhibition, since the social survey conducted by environmental scientists Silvia Rova and Alice Stocco from Ca’ Foscari University analyzes and presents the results of a research based on the feelings experienced during the pandemic.<\/p>\n

In addition to this, CORILA’s “citizen science” initiative allows for the construction of a digital photo archive, freely available, as a contribution to collective memory.<\/p>\n

Lastly, the exhibition will be “immersive,” reproducing the sounds recorded during those pandemic moments when time stood still and everything was “slower.”<\/p>\n

One of the goals of “Re-Emerging” is to question the hustle and bustle of modern society, assess the importance of slowing down, reducing resource consumption and seeking a greater connection with nature.
