The first edition of the Salone dell’alto artigianato italiano (Italian Craft fair) kicked off today, September 28, at the Venice Arsenal. The event, of which the Venice Sustainability Foundation (VSF) is a partner, was inaugurated in the presence of Minister for Institutional Reform Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati, Mayor of Venice and Vice President of the VSF Luigi Brugnaro, and Regional Councillor for Crafts Roberto Marcato.<\/p>\n

“Venice is a great flower, a unique city in the world, ships were built here, it was a factory where the Fordist culture of the assembly line already existed. In the 16th century the arsenalotti, each with his own task, armed the ships on the move,” Brugnaro began. The mayor then went on to explain the reason for the event, “We want to tell the story of these companies, which start small to become big. Thanks to the pioneers who have joined.”<\/p>\n

At the Salone it is possible to touch Italian know-how, from Murano glass to Burano lace, passing through the goldsmith’s art, jewelry, textiles, as well as mosaics, ceramics, furnishing accessories and a lot of design.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
